We love seeing great deals being shared, and part of what makes this community special is that we reward helpful contributions.
To keep things helpful and fair for everyone, we’ve put a few guidelines in place to avoid what’s known as deal farming.
What is Deal Farming?
Deal farming is when someone:
- Submits lots of copy-pasted or low-effort posts
- Shares items that aren’t really deals, see below for what makes a Good Deal Post
- Submits similar or repetitive items just to hit posting limits
- Posts without checking if the deal has already been shared
- Fails to include at least 15 words in their own words
It’s okay to copy a title or short description from the retailer, just make sure you also add your own words about the deal, such as where you found it, why it’s good, or how it compares to other prices. That extra context is what helps the community most.
Why This Matters
We’re building a community where every deal is genuinely useful, whether it’s a rare price drop, a better-than-usual bundle, or just something timely that others might miss.
When you include a bit of extra effort, like highlighting that it’s cheaper than elsewhere, or pointing out why the deal stands out, it makes a real difference for other users.
What Makes a Good Deal Post?
Just aim to share deals that are genuinely helpful to others. If your post is clear, unique, and adds value to the community, it’s likely to be approved and earn points.
💡 A good rule of thumb:
Would this deal help someone save money, or avoid overpaying?
If yes, you’re on the right track.
What Makes a Deal Valuable?
Here’s a great example of a valuable post:
Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max 256GB for $2,079.99 at Costco— cheaper than JB Hi-Fi ($2,147) and Amazon ($2,127).
That’s what we call a best in market deal, and that’s exactly the kind of post that helps the community most.
Keep It Community First
At the end of the day, it’s all about sharing what’s useful. Think of what you’d want to see while browsing for a deal, a great price, some context, and something that stands out. That’s what makes this space work.
Thanks for helping make Current Specials Australia a valuable, community-driven platform.
